General Judging Criteria (all phases)
- Innovative business concept
- Sound financial statements
- Protection of your concept
- Environmentally sustainable
- Overall attractiveness and presentation to stimulate the interest of potential investor
Specific Judging Criteria (for each phase)
PHASE 1: PRELIMINARY ROUND
- Register
- Completed business concept plan must be submitted online or via email in Word or rich text format (rtf). Email rosbrink@shastacollege.edu
A panel of judges shall be appointed. Judging process based on judging criteria identified above.
There are business concept consultants available free of charge to help review your business concept plan. Contact rosbrink@shastacollege.edu for more information.
PHASE 2: VIDEO ELEVATOR PITCH
- Top competitors/teams from each age category will be invited to upload their video elevator pitch presentation to the website.
- Each team is allowed 60- to 90-seconds for their video elevator pitch.

Judging process is based on the elevator pitch, business concept plan andYouTube voting.
- Business Concept Plan – 40%
- Elevator Pitch - 40%
- YouTube voting – 20%
PHASE 3: YEP BUSINESS FAIR & COMPETITION
Final six teams (three from each age category) to present a 3 to 5 minute presentation of their business concept. The judging process is identified below:

- Innovative business concept
- Sound financial statements
- Protection of your concept
- Environmentally sustainable
- Overall attractiveness and presentation to stimulate the interest of potential investor
- Live audience text voting – 25%
Categories:
- 14 – 18 year old
- 19 – 27 year old
Prizes:
- $1,000 grand prize
- $500 for best 14-18-year old category
- $500 for best 19-27-year old category
- $300 for fan favorite
- $100 for honorable mentions
