2013 YEP Shasta College Business Plan Competition (College)



The Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP), hosted by the Business & Entrepreneurship Center (BEC) at Shasta College, is a  program designed to help young people between the ages of 14 and 27 realize and attain their business goals.  Through entrepreneurship education and one-on-one counseling, YEP helps young people build skills, unlock creativity, and discover pathways to opportunities in small and large businesses.  Participants will learn real world business practices such as leadership development, team building, financial management, communication, and business etiquette.

The BEC is kicking off the first annual Shasta College Business Concepts Competition.  This is an opportunity for our college students to showcase their creativity and innovative ideas while entering to win seed capital to help start their businesses. 

Remember, all contestants must be a current student registered at Shasta College and be a legal residents of Shasta, Trinity, Tehama, Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Humboldt, Del Norte, Modoc, Siskiyou, or Plumas Counties in California. 

The competition is divided into three phases:


Step one: Registration 

        Register your team. Registration gives participants access

        to Live Plan business plan writing software for free. 

Step two:  Business plan

        Complete the "Pitch" section on Live Plan for your business idea and submit it to the

        YEP program.

Step Three: Pitch it

           Each Team will be given the opportunity to pitch

           their idea during a 2-5 minute pitch presentation.
